Pacific Wild Salmon — a treasured icon of the northwest — are linked to the ecological health of this region. In my exploration of this subject, the salmon lifecycle; history, cultural significance and their sheer physical power have taken a front row seat in my consciousness…and therefore my art.

The etched salmon, as in their natural habitat, are disguised in the watery image — fading and re-emerging as the light or viewing angle changes.

I etch the images into both stainless steel and copper, usually repurposed appliance panels salvaged from the waste stream. No two are exactly the same so you can be sure that yours will be an original, one-of-a-kind art piece. Due to the holographic nature of the etching, they’re difficult to photograph and have a much greater impact when seen in person.
